If you want to place tables, chairs, or other furniture outside your premises for customers to use, you need a pavement licence. It’s essential for cafés, restaurants, and bars that want outdoor seating.
You’ll need a completed application form; a furniture plan showing the layout of tables, chairs, and barriers; photos or brochures of the proposed furniture; proof of public liability insurance (minimum £5 million coverage); and a photo of the public notice displayed at your premises. Don't worry, we guide you through everything and compile all of this for you!
We charge £300 for the pavement licence application. We take care of all the forms and design the furniture plan. We also tell you what other supporting documents you need (photos of furniture and insurance). We will also generate your public notice form so that you are compliant. You will still need to pay the council fees, but this depends on what services you are offering!
After submitting, there is a 14-day consultation period. The council will then make a decision within 14 days after that.
You can apply for any licence yourself. It will be quite a lot of work, but you can definitely do it! Just be careful with the application forms and supporting documents. If they are incorrect or something is missing, your application will be rejected. Our job is to remove the possibility of mistakes. That's why we have a 100% success rate across all licences.
