We generate the public notice for your premises, and place an ad in a local newspaper (this is required!)
There is a 28-day statutory, consultation period before the council grants the licence.
A premises licence allows your business to sell alcohol, host live or recorded music, show films, and serve hot food and drinks late at night. It is legally required to have this licence if you want to do any of these activities at your business.
Generally, yes. But for one-off events, you might be able to apply for a Temporary Event Notice instead, which is simpler. If you aren't sure, feel free to speak to one of our agents to confirm!
Somewhat. Each council will have their own licensing policy, but these are fairly similar. There might be local restrictions that can impact your application. Finally, your local authorities (like the police) might have local concerns.
There are 3 components. There is the council fee which generally ranges from £100 to over £635 depending on your business rates. Then there are the advertising fees for a newspaper placement which are £400 on average, but can be as low as £100 and as high as £640. And finally, there is our fee of £300. Or discounted to £200 if you do your own premises plan.
Depends on who you go with. A typical law firm will charge you from £2,000. The cheapest other provider will charge you £750. Is the service others provide any different? Yes. It takes longer...
As you can see from the step-by-step process above, we do all the heavy lifting. We need you to do our questionnaire so that we can prepare your application and provide the documents we need to compile the application pack. Then you submit to the council. All in all this will take around 60 minutes of your time.
We are at least 2 times cheaper than the next best offer you will see. We are also a lot faster with 90% of the licences we handle being granted in 5 weeks. On average, other providers take 2 months.
Unfortunately, this is a legal requirement. It can be tricky to find a newspaper local to you that doesn't charge an extortionate price for placing a public notice. It's also not every local newspaper that is allowed to advertise this way. So it is entirely possible that you advertise in the wrong place and your application is rejected!
Luckily, we find you the cheapest newspaper that is guaranteed to be accepted by the council...
While you can apply for a Premises Licence on your own, our service saves you time and eliminates the guesswork. We ensure your application is 100% compliant with the council requirements, reducing the risk of rejection or delays. With our expertise, what would normally take weeks can be done in 1 day, leaving you stress-free.
Our success rate is 100% because we create a fully compliant and complete application. However, there is always a risk that the application is rejected by the council. It will then normally go to a licensing committee hearing. In our experience this happens 1% of the times and we have a £300 hearing package you can use to prepare yourself for that hearing (it is designed by the government NOT to require a lawyer to make your case).
